Twelve Liberty County 4-Hers led the Junior Team to fourth place at the district contest the district Cotton Boll and Consumer Jamboree competition Nov. 8 in Statesboro.

CBCJ teaches 4-Hers how to evaluate and select four different consumer items based on their needs. Each year, the items change, so 4-Hers competing multiple years learn about new topics. This year’s products were blue jeans, watches, fast food and movie rentals. Additionally, 4-Hers were taught about the importance of cotton as an agricultural commodity in Georgia and had to present a commercial about cotton.

“It is really excites me to see our 4-H members learning about items that they could potentially purchase,” said Kasey Bozeman, county 4-H agent and team coach. “They learn about features, special options, and pricing. It is practical information that they and even their parents can use.”

The team, comprised of students in grades four through eight, placed fourth out of 12 teams. Team members were Elisse Albury, Janell Bacon, Alyssa Farmer, Zachary Fuller, Sofia Heard, Sonia Heard, Amani Jackson, Tatiana Jefferson, Destiny LeCounte, Nickeria Miller, Seraphina Morrison and Sophia Rodriguez.
