Some former local basketball stars have East Georgia College off to a great start this season.
Former First Presbyterian Christian Academy standout Jordan Johnson is leading EGC squad with 21 points per game as the Bobcats have a 7-0 start for the season. Johnson is one of four EGC players who stem from Liberty County. Johnson’s former teammate D. J. Felder is averaging 12.4 points per game.
Both players have played in all seven games, with Felder earning starts in all seven.
Former Bradwell Tiger Jon Blair has played in all seven games with one start, averaging 8.6 points per game. His former BI teammate Jalen Watson is averaging 5.3 points per game.
Watson and Felder lead in rebounds per game with 7.6 and 7.1 respectively.  Blair and Johnson are fifth and sixth in rebounds with 4.4 and three rebounds per game, respectively.
The Bobcats play tonight against Middle Georgia in Cochran. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m.

Richardson at NGC

Former Liberty County High School basketball player Lamar Richardson will be among the North Georgia college basketball players set for a game against Armstrong Atlantic State University at 3:30 p.m. Dec. 15 in Savannah.
North Georgia College is 4-2. As of Tuesday, Richardson had started in all six games and has played 160 minutes and scored 101 points.
Richardson signed to North Georgia College after completing his first two seasons of college basketball at East Georgia College. At EGC, Richardson set the school record for most points in a career and earned all-conference recognition from the Georgia College Athletic Association last season. He averaged 14.6 points per game while shooting 36 percent from the field and 85.7 percent from the free-throw line as a sophomore. As a freshman, he led the team in scoring and ended the season third in the conference in that category.
He is the son of Gregory and Annette Richardson.
