Little damage from Monday storm

POSTED: December 19, 2012 10:46 a.m.

A powerful storm swept through Liberty County and other parts of Southeast Georgia on Monday afternoon, spurring a tornado watch and a few power outages, but left relatively little damage.
“It really was not bad. We did have some tree damage and power outages; however, it was all short in duration,” Liberty Emergency Management Agency Director Mike Hodges said. “Most of the damage came from dead trees or limbs.”
About five incidents were reported — some of which required assistance — but no structural damage or injuries were attributed to the storm, according to Hodges.
Power outages were reported at North Main Street and Gen. Stewart Way, Bradwell Street and on Fort Stewart at Gate 7 through the Newman Gym area, among others. Fort Stewart also reported damage to some railroad-crossing arms and a building roof.
