In a heated game that had the crowd on its feet and rumbling, the First Presbyterian Christian Academy Highlanders edged out a 57-50 win against region rival Frederica Academy on Tuesday at St. James Sports Center in Holmestown.
In what may be a preview of this year’s Georgia Independent School Association Region 2-AA title and state-title matchup, the Highlanders took the first win while improving to 3-1 overall and 1-1 in the region.

Highlander Herbert Roberts notched 23 points and five rebounds in the effort, while teammate Domonique Kirkley added 10 points.
“Having Domonique back from his injury has been good for us,” Highlander boys’ basketball coach Ernie Walthour said. “He is one of our captains, a great leader and a strong player for us.”
Walthour said the action was back-and-forth and non-stop from the get-go.
Highlander Chris Guilfo had four rebounds and four steals, and Ahman Muhamaad had five rebounds and two blocks. Walthour said he was extremely impressed by Muhamaad and newcomer Richard Smith, who played valuable minutes off the bench.
“Richard was a key player in our wins against Bethesda and Frederica,” Walthour said. “I am also very pleased with Tevin Womack. Sometimes it’s not about how many points you score but what you add as an offensive and defensive player for the team.”
Tonight, the Highlanders travel to Waynesboro to face Edmund Burke in another region matchup. Tip-off for tonight’s game is 7:30. On Saturday, FPCA goes to Augusta for a non-region contest against Greater Augusta Independent School.
