Liberty County Pre-K Center students on Monday were introduced to a new playground, complete with a “silly slide” and spring animals.
“We don’t like that playground,” pre-K student Phoebe Rodriguez said Thursday, gesturing to the old blue-colored area. “They like the new one; that one didn’t have a silly slide.”
The work is part of a $437,238 project by Lynn Construction Contracting, according to LCSS Deputy Superintendent Dr. Cheryl Conley. She presented the board an overview on Tuesday.
Included in the project are interior renovations to the office and construction of a bell-tower at the school’s northeast corner.
Vice-Principal Greg McCallar said administrators hope to move into the new office — which will prevent traffic congestion and ease visitor confusion — within two weeks.
The work also will ensure all traffic to the building is directed to a secure office, Conley said.
Included in the project cost are the addition of a sidewalk and flagpole at the board office and a canopy addition at Waldo Pafford Elementary.
