Members of the Bradwell Institute FFA chapter attended the recent Georgia FFA Career Conference and Greenhand Jamboree at the Georgia FFA-FCCLA Center.
The Career Conference was to help FFA members prepare for life after high school by targeting the career success portion of the FFA mission statement. At the Jamboree, FFA members were challenged to expand their comfort zones, set goals and realize the importance of agriculture.
FFA members were introduced to possible paths to take following high school, and had the opportunity to meet with representatives from the University of Georgia, Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, Fort Valley State University, North Georgia Technical College, and Athens Technical College. The students also had the opportunity to listen to and question a panel comprised of five agricultural professionals from the electrical, wildlife management, engineering, animal science, and agricultural education industries.
"Today's FFA members are preparing to make a difference in the world," Jacob Daniel, state FFA vice president, said. "With the training received here in the FFA, these students are not waiting for a future, they are creating their own future, and it's a bright future."
Students also received lessons on creating resumes, and how to conduct themselves in a business interview.
The BI FFA members attending the Career Conference included Kirsten Williams, Alexandria Sapp, Jamica Martin, Annquinette Woodard, Tiffany Morningstar, Kevin Cooke, Tevin Kelly, Vincent Winbush, Stephanie Scott, Monica Vargas, Nece Elliot, Antonia Gorham and Miranda Martin.
Members who attended the Greenhand Jamboree were Chris Carlson, Candace Caldwell, Jessica Ireland and Aaron Brosam.
With over 25,500 FFA members, Georgia is the third largest state association in the nation.  The mission of the FFA organization is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth, and career success through agricultural education.
