First Citizens now allows remote deposits

POSTED: February 21, 2008 5:00 a.m.
GLENNVILLE - First Citizens Bank has announced the launch of remote express deposit, a service that allows companies to deposit checks electronically from their places of business.
Spurred by new legislation, remote express deposit eliminates daily trips to the bank by enabling businesses to scan and submit check deposits from their desktops, expediting collection of check payments. For companies with satellite offices, remote deposit can translate into significant cost savings through the consolidation of multiple depository accounts into one, eliminating wire transfers to concentrate and/or disburse funds.
"We are enthusiastic about the launch of our new remote express deposit solution because it offers our customers a more efficient deposit process by eliminating trips to the bank, improving funds availability, and reducing reliance on multiple banks due to geographic location," said FCB President Julian C. "Butch" Lane.
And, he said, the bank is looking for other improvements
"In coming months, we'll continue to put an emphasis on customer convenience and the introduction of additional services that make banking easy and affordable," he said. "Just as important, our customers will enjoy banking with the same, friendly folks who they know and trust."
First Citizens has selected Goldleaf Technologies to provide the service.
"First Citizens knows that placing a check scanner at a business site not only improves service, it wins that customer's deposit relationship for the long term," Goldleaf Technologies CEO Paul McCullough said.
First Citizens is a state chartered bank with offices in Glennville, Reidsville and Hinesville. At Dec. 31, the bank had approximately $105 million in assets, $88 million in deposits and capital of $10 million.
