The annual U.S. Army All-American Bowl is considered one of the nation’s premier high-school football game. It features the best 90 players in an East vs. West matchup every January in San Antonio’s Alamo Dome and is broadcast live on NBC. Last year’s bowl marked the 13th anniversary of the game and drew a record crowd of 40,133.
This year, Liberty County High School head football coach Kirk Warner served as a coach at the game during Christmas break.
“My experience at the Army All-American Bowl was definitely a life-changing one. I was allowed to coach some of the greatest high-school athletes in the nation, in addition to sharing ideas with some of the greatest high-school coaches. During that brief period of time in San Antonio, I developed some lifelong relationships with the players and coaches. To be selected to coach in this prestigious game was definitely one of the highlights of my career. I would like to thank my family, players, coaches and administration for the unparalleled support you all have given me. Without you all, this would never have been possible,” Warner said.
The history and tradition of the bowl is highlighted by Heisman Trophy winners and more than 200 NFL players among its alumni. The game has featured some of the nation’s most elite football players, providing a launching pad for college and NFL stars such as Andrew Luck (2008), Adrian Peterson (2004), Mark Sanchez (2005), Tim Tebow (2006), Ndamukong Suh (2005), Marcus Lattimore (2010) and Patrick Peterson (2008).
The next bowl game is at 1 p.m. Jan. 4, 2014.
