Rainy weekend in forecast

A rainy weekend is in store for Liberty  County and the rest of Coastal Georgia.

Snow and winter storms are possible north of us a few hundred miles, but according to the National Weather Service it's just be rain with some thunderstorms for us.

Here's the service's forecast:

· Saturday: A chance of rain and thunderstorms before noon, then rain likely and possibly a thunderstorm between noon and 5 p.m., then a chance of rain and thunderstorms after 5 p.m. Cloudy, with a high near 69. Light and variable wind becoming northwest around 5 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

· Saturday night: A chance of rain and thunderstorms before 8 p.m., then showers and possibly a thunderstorm between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m., then rain and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 a.m. Low around 58. East wind 7 to 9 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

· Sunday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly before 2 p.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. High near 76. South wind 7 to 16 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

· Sunday night: A chance of showers before 8 p.m. Partly cloudy, with a low around 48. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Monday is forecast to be sunny.
