The Long County High School boys and girls soccer teams continue to play well in their inaugural season, by adding wins to each of their records.
Playing in front of their home fans in Ludowici, they shutout both of the teams from Wayne County. They won 4-0 and the girls core was 3-0. With their win, the Lady Tide has now won three straight games.
In the boys game the entire team played well, but no one shined as bright as Tanner Brant who scored three of the four goals.  Adalberto Vidrio got the shutout as goalie.
“The men’s team controlled the game from start to finish, we were able to put the whole game together,” coach Darrell Mosley said.
The coach also praised the play of Malik Williams and Shawn Martinez, saying they controlled the back of the field, not allowing the Yellow Jackets to challenge their goalie. On offense, Malik Fedon added the fourth goal for the men.
In the girls action, the offensive attack was more balanced. Katie Estill, Sam Garcia and Kaylyn McEwin all posted a goal. Once again Teresa Chihuahua was a beast in front of the goal, posting her fourth shutout of the season.
“Teresa Chihuahua has gotten much more confident at the goalie position and has really started to mature, (despite) having only one year of goalie experience,” Mosley said.
He said, “The ladies team has started to play together as a team. We also have three ladies that joined the team after basketball season and they have given the team more depth.”
With the non-region wins the Lady Tide improved the overall record to 5-5 and their 2-AA region mark to 3-5. The Blue Tide sits at 4-6 overall and 2-6 in the region.
