Crash victim identified

County truck, mini van collide

POSTED: March 29, 2013 9:51 a.m.

A woman was killed Wednesday afternoon in a wreck on Leroy Coffer Highway, according to Georgia State Patrol Trooper Quincy Melvin.
Danielle Woods, 28, of Liberty County, and her daughter were traveling toward Highway 84 in a minivan on the highway when a dump truck attempted to cross the intersection from Freedman Grove Road onto Pate Rogers Road. The truck struck the 2003 Dodge Caravan on the driver’s side, trapping Woods. She later was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel. The child was transported to Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah.
Melvin said Liberty County employee Robert Boatright, who was not injured, was driving the truck, which is county property.
The  Georgia State Patrol Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team is investigating and will determine whether charges should be filed.
