After beating Windsor Forest, 18-3, in a road game Friday, the Bradwell Tigers were unable to pull a second road win Saturday, falling at Effingham County, 7-1.
The Tigers played well Saturday, but the Rebels have plenty of experience, and the senior-heavy team was able to pull ahead in the sixth inning, earning the Region 3-AAAAA victory and improving to 8-6 overall and 6-2 in the region.
As of Monday, the Tigers were 5-11 overall and 2-6 in the region. The Rebels (8-6, 6-2 in region) placed their ace pitcher, Eric Knox, who recently signed with Georgia Tech, on the mound to keep the Tigers’ offense in check.
According to Tiger assistant coach and statistician Chris Bell, the Tigers were aggressive against the hard-throwing right-hander, picking up four hits in the first four innings.
In the fourth inning, the Tigers’ Jermaine Davilia notched a single and an RBI.
The Rebels were up, 3-1, in the fourth before adding a run in the fifth and three unearned runs in the sixth to pull away.
Tiger pitcher Sage Sammons pitched five innings, allowing three earned runs, striking out three and walking four. Stephen Felton came in to finish the game on the mound for the Tigers.

Tiger freshman Ryan Desbiens led BI at the plate, going 2 for 3 with a walk. BI managed six hits in the game which, according to baseball coach Rhett Hellgren, is something the boys need to keep doing to improve offensively.
Hellgren has said the team needs to put the ball in play. In the past three games, the Tigers have 32 hits and have 71 hits for the season so far.
The boys were scheduled to host Camden County on Monday for a non-region game. Results were unavailable at press time.
The Tigers will be at Groves on Friday for a region game beginning at  4:30 p.m.
