HPD blotter for May 10

April 22: Theft by taking — A resident in the 700 block of Bacon Road reported someone took the engine lift that was in her driveway. She said she asked her neighbors if they had seen anything suspicious and they had not, and the officer reported not seeing evidence of a vehicle that could move an engine lift.
Criminal trespass — A woman reported that someone cut the tires of her vehicle overnight at Northgate apartments on Veterans Parkway.
Criminal trespass — A woman complained that her vehicle was painted with graffiti and obscene words while she parked it overnight at Little Treasures 2 on West Court Street. The business was placed under increased patrol.

April 23
Affray — Officers were dispatched to Pineland Square Apartments on Pineland Avenue after receiving calls about a fight. Two women reported they were fighting because one woman’s 1-year-old son bit the other woman’s 2-year-old daughter. They acknowledged that their fight became physical but said they could not remember who initiated the physical conflict.
Reckless conduct, disruption of a public school — Officers were dispatched to Bradwell Institute around 2:45 p.m. after an assistant principal reported smelling incense in a boys’ restroom. It also reportedly smelled as though other items had been burned. Officers found burned paper towels that had been stomped out. Administrators reportedly found two suspects on school surveillance footage, and each blamed the other for starting the fire.

April 24
Battery — A woman at Pineland Square Apartments reported that someone struck her in the face, causing her to bleed. She said she heard a knock at her door, looked through the peephole and did not see anyone. The knocking reportedly persisted, so she opened the door slightly while armed with a baseball bat and was struck on the right side of her face. She said she quickly slammed the door. She gave a description of a man whom she previously had dated and reportedly has been involved with legal disputes before.
