It’s been nearly a decade since Liberty County 4-H had a high-school senior win a statewide 4-H Achievement Scholarship. However, Liberty County High School student Donnie Pulliam changed that this year.
Pulliam will receive the $500 Hugh Moss Comer Scholarship at the State 4-H Congress in July. Achievement scholarships are awarded based on 4-H participation, leadership, civic engagement and commitment to higher education.
Pulliam was chosen from more than 115 high-school seniors or collegiate 4-Hers to be a recipient of a Georgia 4-H Achievement Scholarship. Pulliam will attend Morehouse College in the fall.
Pulliam has been a 4-H member since 2009 and has participated in numerous 4-H projects, including performing arts, public speaking and human development. In July, he will present his human-development demonstration about the effects of deployment on children and youth at the state competition. Pulliam also is a master 4-Her, having won the state 4-H land-judging contest last fall.
“Donnie is the ideal 4-H member. He is mature, responsible, and loves participating in our activities,” Liberty County 4-H Agent Kasey Bozeman said. “Donnie is always willing to try new things and suggests ways on improving our current programming. I will miss Donnie, but I know he will continue to accomplish great things.”
To learn more, call Bozeman at 876-2133 or email uge3179@uga.edu.
