Long crowns queens for Valentine's Day

LUDOWICI - A packed cafeteria at the Long County High School watched Heather Cierra Reddish be crowned the 2008 Long County Miss Sweetheart and Ryan Taylor Harrison be crowned the Junior Miss Sweetheart this past Thursday.
The annual pageant, put on by the LCHS senior class, drew one of the largest crowds ever as more than 250 people enjoyed the night.
Stephanie Middleton emceed the event. The judges were Jana Shields, Angela Vernadow and Toratia Battle.
Runnersup to Harrison for the Junior Sweetheart Title were Miranda Henry, fourth runnerup, Megan Alexander, third, Kelly Sheppard, second, and Cori Brooke McFann, first.
Earning individual awards for the juniors were Britany May Geer who won the most sponsors award, Alexander who won people's favorite and Harrison, who besides taking home the crown won the best dressed and most photogenic awards.
Others competing for the Junior Miss Title were Harley Middleton, Mary Moses, Jessie Lynn Poole, Rachel Woodard, Maya Ellerbe, Ayla Oglesby, Abbey Marie Pilkington, Karena Lynn Espey, and Taylor Leigh Rogers.
Runnersup to Reddish for the Miss Sweetheart Crown were Jacqueline Viola Miller, fourth runnerup, Ariel Timia Davis, third, Ashley-Kate Brooke Manning, second, and Kelly Nicole Long, first.
Picking up individual awards for the misses, were Jessica Joanne Thornton, people's favorite and most sponsors, Paige Elizabeth Davis garnered the best dressed, and most photogenic went to Long.
Other Miss Sweetheart contestants were Elizabeth Rachell Steen, Farryn Brittany Chapman, Kayla Michelle Ellenberger, Brittany Heath, Kayla Miles, and Jessica Miller.
The 2007 Junior Miss Sweetheart Alexis Flournoy and the 2007 Miss Sweetheart Jamie Walker were on hand to congratulate all the contestants.
Senior class sponsors were Amanda Blocker, Sherry Lester and Betty Manning.  All proceeds from the pageant went to the class.
