According to an article posted on govolsxtra.com, former Liberty County High School basketball player Jordan McRae received an invitation to the 2013 Kevin Durant Skills Academy, a three-day course on NBA-based strength and conditioning and skill development.
McRae, who will enter his senior season at the University of Tennessee, is considered one of the top wing players in the country, the article noted, and the invitation is considered a boost in fulfilling McRae’s NBA dreams.  Durant, who plays for Oklahoma City in the NBA, is a three-time league scoring champion, according to basketball-reference.com.
McRae was named to the SEC All-Conference first team this year and was the Volunteer’s MVP for the season. He led the Vols in scoring last season at 15.7 points in a team-high 33.6 minutes per game, according to the report.
In April, McRae announced he would return for his senior season at UT, foregoing early entry into the NBA draft, citing he still has room for improvement.
“First of all, it’s an honor just to be invited to an event like that,” McRae said in a UT release. “It’s a great opportunity. I’ll get a chance to improve my game. I look forward to seeing how I stack up against some of the best wings in the country.”
The camp, which is attended by NBA scouts, will be June 28-30 in Washington, D.C. The complete roster for the camp has yet to be finalized.
