Death investigation — A resident on Bengay Way called HPD to report his roommate reportedly shot himself in the head while sitting in his car in the Walmart parking lot. HPD officers found the man in the vehicle in the driver’s seat with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to the head. They found a weak pulse, so EMS was notified, but the man later died.

According to his roommates, the man was supposed to be attending a course at Fort Benning when he showed up at the residence. He reportedly went straight to his room and got his pistol. He told the female roommate he loved her then left. She told the other roommate, who started looking for him. He found his vehicle parked near Wendy’s in the Walmart parking lot. Surveillance cameras showed the man arriving at 11:22 p.m. No one at Walmart or Wendy’s heard the shot.

Burglary, forced entry, residence — An unemployed resident on Bacon Road found his home burglarized though the front door dead bolts were still engaged. He admitted to HPD officers that a back bedroom window was broken and could not be locked. The officers found screens removed from the window.  Hand tools not belonging to the resident were found in the yard. Items taken included a $600 TV and $1,500 worth of video games.
