A sports blogger has declared former Liberty County and current University of Tennessee basketball player Jordan McRae potentially one of the country’s best players for next season.
According to rantsports.com writer Trevor Lowry, McRae, the Volunteers’ MVP last season and a first-team All-SEC first-team selection, stands to improve on a great junior season. McRae, a 6-foot-5 guard, averaged 15.7 points, 4.1 rebounds and two assists per game last season. He was one of six underclassmen on the league’s first team, according to www.secdigitalnetwork.com.
“There will be some good players returning in the SEC, but McRae will definitely be one of the best,” Lowry wrote. “It helps that his Tennessee Volunteers will likely compete for an SEC title.”
Lowry said McRae will be the go-to-guy for the Volunteers and has the talent to score more points this year to help his team go on a deep run in the NCAA tournament.
“McRae has the talent to be one of the best players in the country next year, and you better believe that he will have a big senior season,” Lowry wrote.
Tennessee went 20-13 overall and 11-7 in the SEC last season, according to the UT athletics website. The Volunteers were selected for the National Invitational Tournament, where they lost their first game to Mercer.
