Golfers who want to support a good cause can play in Saturday’s Mabel Creel Memorial Golf Tournament at Cherokee Rose Golf Course.
The annual tournament, which is conducted by the HAPfan Golf Foundation, is a four-person-scramble format with a 1:30 p.m. tee time.  Entry fee is $240 for a team or $60 for an individual.  Individuals who don’t have a team will be placed on a team.  Cash prizes will be awarded for the top three teams, longest drive and closest to the tee. Also, door prizes and lunch and dinner will be provided.
Senior men who participate will be allowed to take their first shots from the senior tees.
“We want all of our old guys out there to come out and go the distance with us,” HAPfan committee member Elise Stafford said.
According to Stafford, the HAPfan Golf Foundation was established in 2009 as a nonprofit organization in memory of Mabel Emily Crawford Creel. Proceeds from the foundation are used to award $500 scholarships to graduating seniors in Long and Liberty counties.
Since the tournament began in 2009, 10 scholarships have been given out.  This year’s recipients were Joey Cannon of First Presbyterian Christian Academy, Kayla Williams of Liberty County High School and Kylie Yancey of Long County High School.
For more information, call Stafford at 977-2157 or email hapfangolf@gmail.com.
