ATLANTA - Georgia Municipal Association is again asking Georgia's 6th graders what they would do if they were mayors.
The "If I Were Mayor, I Would" essay contest lets students share their visions of what their community would be like under their guidance.
The contest is open to all Georgia 6th graders -- including private and home school students -- and the deadline is March 7.
Twelve winners will be chosen statewide, including one overall winner selected. Each winner receives a $250 savings bond and other prizes. Essays must be no longer than 250 words and begin with the phrase, "If I were mayor, I would . . ."
Essays will be judged by a panel of city officials on their creativity, proper use of grammar, sincerity of thought and clarity.
Contest rules and entry forms are available on the GMA Web site at www.gmanet.com
