According to, former Liberty County High School basketball player Jordan McRae has been invited to the LeBron James Camp.
The invitation came Monday as McRae wrapped up a successful trip to Washington D.C., where he reportedly excelled at the Kevin Durant Skills Academy this past weekend.
“Meeting a world champion and four-time MVP? Yeah, it’ll be fun,” McRae told Monday before a Rocky Top League game at Christian Academy of Knoxville.
The invitation-only LeBron James camp takes place in Las Vegas today and through the weekend. It features the nation’s top 80 high-school players and top-20 college players. The college players are selected from those who stand out at the three Nike skill academies hosted by Durant (wings), Deron Williams (guards) and Amare Stoudemire (post players).
According to the article, McRae was pleased with his performance at Durant’s camp and even experienced some one-on-one action against Durant.
“It was in the flow (of the game),” McRae said. “I saw him on me and the side cleared out — any time you have the opportunity to score on one of the world’s best players, I had to take advantage of that.”
McRae said he scored once on Durant, while his second shot against the NBA All-Star was blocked.
Meanwhile, McRae has been lighting up the score boards for the Campus Lights in the Rocky Top League.
On Tuesday, the Knoxville News-Sentinel team took the title game against McRae’s Campus Light, 107-97. Despite the loss, McRae scored 51 points, hitting 17 of 31 field-goal tries, including 7 of 15 from 3-point range. He also sank 10 of 12 foul shots.  McRae averaged 44.5 points in six games this season, earning him this years’ Rocky Top League MVP award.
