The Hinesville Police Department is investigating a burglary that occurred just after 9 p.m. Sunday at a Strickland Street home.

A 13-year-old who lives at the house with his mother said she was visiting friends while he was next door at a neighbor’s home.

The child said he walked back to his house at 9:20 p.m. and saw two men standing on the front porch. The teen ran back to the neighbors’ house to alert them, and said the suspects were gone when he went back outside.

He headed back toward his house but then reportedly saw the suspects run out the back door. The boy said he chased them to his back fence, but the escaped.

A K-9 followed the suspects’ scent from behind the fence to the area between Baytree Apartments and Olvey Field, where the trail went cold.

Several items, including an Xbox 360 and games, shoes, clothing, phones and some CDs were missing.
