More than 250 middle-school students from across the United States took part in a June 8-13 leadership conference in Washington, D.C., including Jada L. O’Neal, a seventh-grader at Lewis Frasier Middle School in Hinesville. O’Neal is the daughter of Leroy M. O’Neal and Sheneda Yopp-O’Neal.
The Junior National Young Leaders Conference introduces young people to the tradition of leadership throughout American history while helping them develop and measure their skills against those of current and former leaders.
During the six-day program, students take part in educational activities and presentations and explore sites, such as Harpers Ferry National Historical Park, museums and memorials.
In addition to examining notable U.S. leaders and historic figures, students study the impact of leadership throughout American history.
