I’m calling about the Sound off editor’s note on July 31 about we having a Sears in Hinesville. That may be true, but I don’t believe our kids would like to go to Sears and buy some appliances and some tools. We’re talking about a Sears that actually has clothes and stuff like that.

Many keep their trash cans by the road. As long as they’re not turned over, I don’t have a problem with that. I, too, forget to bring mine in at times, but I have a concerned neighbor who pushes it back for me. He’s that concerned, and thank you.

The mayor and city council are trying their best to push out all the white department heads in Hinesville and they want to replace them with black folks, and they don’t think that’s racist? Those people have worked in those jobs for years, and now just because they’re white they’re trying to get rid of them. That’s wrong.

I would like to say to the Walthourville mayor, Mrs. Daisy Pray, that you’re doing a good job for the city of Walthourville. You’re moving this city forward. I understand there has been one councilman that has been really giving you a hard time. I would like to say to Mrs. Pray: Stand up and let her know that you are the mayor, that you’re just not a little person. I would like to say to that councilman: Ever since Mrs. Pray has been there, she has been giving Mrs. Pray a hard time. Mrs. Pray, as the Bible says, “Keep praying, and God will move the devil out of the way.” I want you to know, Mrs. Pray, you’re doing a wonderful job for the city. You have treated us good. You have been a mayor that’s doing an excellent job since you’ve been there, better than the mayor that we had before. I say, Mrs. Pray, keep praying and keep faith; God will take care of you and move the devil out of the way.
