The Liberty County Panthers didn’t get their first win Saturday like they had hoped to.
Glynn County picked off the Panther offense twice and converted the turnovers into touchdowns en route to a 34-13 win in Brunswick.
The scrimmage, originally scheduled for Friday night, was postponed to Saturday after the coaching staff wanted to play on dryer ground following Friday’s heavy rains.
The game kicked off at
11 a.m. Saturday.
Panther quarterback Jordan Waters finished with five completions on 12 attempts for 99 passing yards. Waters also scampered in for a short rushing touchdown. Returning running back Trentice Williams, who missed most of last season with an ankle injury, tallied seven carries for 32 yards and a touchdown.
“Well, we definitely did some things right, but we also did a few things wrong,” Panther football coach Kirk Warner said. “The good thing is, the things we did wrong are correctable and that is what we look for the next day when we review the film. And we have the next two weeks to fix the problems.”
The regular season begins Aug. 30 when the Panthers host Bradwell at 7:30 p.m.
