State recruiting pre-K providers

ATLANTA -- Bright from the Start: Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning is looking for eligible providers to serve children and families in Liberty County in Georgia's Pre-K Program site.
Liberty County has been identified as a community that could receive additional Georgia Pre-K Program classes if qualified locations were available.
"The success of Georgia's children is linked to our partnership with providers," Mary Mazarky, assistant commissioner for pre-K, said. "We're proud of what our public/private partnership has accomplished, but as the program continues to expand we can only increase the number of classes in a community with the assistance of qualified early care and education facilities."
The General Assembly has proposed increasing funding for Georgia's Pre-K Program to serve 79,000 children during the 2008-09.
Bright from the Start is accepting applications through March 10 from child care providers interested in offering Georgia's Pre-K Program classes next year.
The program offers, to providers:
· Start-up funds to assist with materials for the Pre-K classroom
· Free professional development for the owner, director, and Pre-K teachers
· Access to on-going technical assistance
· Listing in Bright from the Start's searchable database
· Marketing tool by being associated with Georgia's Pre-K Program
· Regular payments over ten months for serving Pre-K children;
To children:
· A start to their educational career
· A foundation for school readiness
· Individualized instruction based on learning standards
· An opportunity to grow cognitively and socially;
To parents:
· Free education for their 4-year-old-
· Support services from pre-K resource coordinators, where available
