Aug. 21: Theft by taking — A lawn mower and air compressor went missing from the front yard of a home on Wells Cemetery Road. The owner of the items said she left them in the front carport, which she kept well-lit at night. She said the mower was a push mower and her air compressor was manufactured by Kobalt. Police noticed tracks made by the lawn mower leaving the residence and continuing down the road to a neighbor’s house.
The neighbor said she didn’t see anyone in the area the previous night except for a friend who appeared drunk and was looking for a ride home.

Matter of record —A woman reported a potential scam being generated by an online company called Outsource Lider LTD.
The scam involves being hired by the company as a collection agent and requiring access and information to PayPal accounts. PayPal was notified and reportedly is conducting an investigation.
Aug. 22
Criminal trespass — Two neighbors, apparently having issues with their property lines, were going at it when one of the homeowners noticed property markers that were just placed by a surveyor he hired had been pulled up from the ground. Police questioned the other neighbor, who admitted she pulled them up, thinking the issue had been settled.

Aug. 23
Driving without a license — A woman was arrested when she was caught driving her husband’s car and had no valid proof of identification, insurance or vehicle registration. Police asked for her name and birth date to check for a Georgia driver’s license but the search returned that she was not on file. She was arrested and her husband’s car was towed.

Wanted subject — A man who was wanted for questioning related to a burglary turned himself in after police allowed him to have his supper.
The man swore he would turn himself in if he could get something to eat and, true to his word, he was arrested without incident after his meal.

Speeding/driving with suspended license — Police clocked a woman who was speeding. After initiating a traffic stop, police discovered the woman had a suspended driver’s license for failing to appear in court on two separate counts in two different counties. The woman was arrested, and her son was told to take the car home.
Aug. 24
Theft by bringing stolen property into state — A man was arrested for bringing a reportedly stolen motorcycle into Georgia. The motorcycle was reported stolen in Jacksonville. But the man said he was in the process of making payments to the man he bought the bike from and had paid $1,500 of the $2,500 he owed.
He told police he would be able to provide paperwork and show receipts, but they were locked in a storage container, as they just moved into the area.
