FPCA cross-country teams running strong

The First Presbyterian Christian Academy junior-varsity cross-country boys’ team claimed the team title with an overall score of 18 points.

First Presbyterian Christian Academy’s junior-varsity and varsity cross-country teams competed at the David Emmanuel Academy meet Tuesday and placed well in their respective divisions.
Competing against eight other teams on a 1.8-mile trail, the FPCA JV boys claimed the team title with an overall score of 18 points. The second-place team, Citizen’s Christian, scored 70 points. Vidalia Heritage placed third with 72 points, and Bulloch Academy finished fourth with 80 points.
FPCA eighth-graders Cleveland Dargan and Isaiah Simmons speeded to the finish line neck and neck for the first- and second-place spots, respectively. Jayden Wilson, Julian Sutphin and Alexander Pagan also placed in the top 10.
Kyle Osteen, Keaton Eason, Palmer Whitney, Chris Dargan, Casey Rearley, Mark Alan McGarry, Ethan Hall and Ronald Davis Jr. also competed for FPCA.
The varsity FPCA girls also finished strong. Hannah Burkett sprinted to second place individually. Hannah Floyd and Arianna Burkett also placed in the top 10. FPCA’s only JV girl runner, Lauren Gerst, improved her time.
The meet ended with the varsity boys’ 3.1-mile race. FPCA’s Clark Sukaratana finished in fourth place, with teammates Kishan Patel and Demetrius Williams also performing well.
The Highlanders’ next meet was scheduled for Tuesday at the Trinity Christian Academy Cross Country Meet in Dublin. Results will be published later in the Coastal Courier.
