Despite a heat index of near 100 degrees in the shade, Bluff Creek Stables of Colonels Island in Midway and Dixie Stables of Allenhurst trotted into the fall horse-show season by placing in 24 of 33 classes at the annual Fall Fest on Sept. 7 at Pine Haven Stables in Brunswick.
Six barns participated in the show, with both Bluff Creek and Dixie Stables combining to claim more than 50 ribbons.
Bluff Creek’s Sara Kate Garrett, riding Wild Lolita, won first place in both Academy WTC Showmanship and the WTC Championship Class. Sydney Prindaville of Bluff Creek, riding Oh! What a Jewel, won both Academy WTC Equitation Novice and the Academy WTC Showmanship Novice. Tehya Bly, riding Spurwing’s Time after Time for Bluff Creek, won the WT 14-and-Up Equitation Class.
In the Hunt Seat Division, Emily Perry, riding Contender, won WT Hunt Seat. Perry also won the Novice Rider WT Championship.
For Dixie Stables, Chris Jarriel, riding Storm on the Rise, took first in Academy WTC Equitation. Ruari Loury, riding CSF Dixie Silk, and Madison Chenevert, riding Jens, won the Leadline Class for Dixie Stables. The Costume Class was won by Dixie Stables’ Emily Eigner and Lily Darsey, riding Storm on the Rise.
“I am so glad we have these local shows put on by local barns so our students can get the experience they need to compete in the state and national shows,” Dixie Stables owner Lynn Pace said.
Bluff Creek Stables and Dixie Stables are preparing for upcoming national and state shows. Bluff Creek will compete at the Southeastern Charity Horse Show today through Saturday in Conyers. Dixie Stables and Bluff Creek will be taking their teams to the Georgia State Fair on Oct. 6 in Atlanta.
