For the referendum for Sunday package sales of alcohol, 298 Hinesville voters cast their votes, with 190 voting for the referendum and 108 voting no. Westside voters said no to annexation Tuesday. Of 109 votes cast in two precincts, six voted yes and 103 voted no.

In Midway’s municipal election, voters re-elected Mayor Dr. Clemontine Washington and incumbent council members Curtes Roberts Sr., Mayor Pro-tem Levern Clancy Jr. and Melice Gerace. Stanley Brown Sr. will be sworn in when outgoing council member Terry Doyle’s term is up at the end of the calendar year. Midway’s mayor and council serve four-year terms. Doyle challenged Washington for the mayoral seat.
