Oct. 13: Rape — A woman on Palmetto Trace in Hinesville reported being sexually assaulted while at a house party on Plantation Road. The woman said she drank several beers and a mixed drink then went to a bedroom in the back of the house to lie down. She said she fell asleep and later woke to find a man she knew from the party assaulting her. She said she screamed and several people came into the room. Another party guest hit the alleged aggressor in the face. The woman later admitted hitting him herself. The man told the woman and the investigating deputy that the woman indicated she wanted to have sex with him earlier that evening. The woman said she did not want to press charges and signed a “declination of prosecution” form.

Possession of a Schedule III controlled substance; speeding — A Hinesville woman was stopped for speeding. She was driving 60 mph in 45 mph zone. The deputy who initiated the stop said the woman appeared to be nervous and was shaking. He asked whether she had any weapons or drugs in the vehicle. The woman avoided the question, according to the LCSO report. She gave the deputy permission to search her vehicle. The deputy, who was assisted in the vehicle search by a Walthourville police officer, found a clear plastic bag containing a white, chunky material that appeared to be cocaine. The bag was in the ashtray near the driver’s side. The woman told deputies she didn’t know where the bag came from. She said she borrowed the vehicle to return a phone to a local store. The material in the bag was field tested and came up positive for cocaine.
