The National Weather Service is warning that severe thunderstorms are possible in our area today, into tonight.

"A potent storm system will affect the area today and tonight, and could bring the potential for severe weather across portions of the area," the services 4 a.m. forecast warned. "The primary threat will be location along and east of Interstate 95. The time period for severe thunderstorms will extend from late morning through the early overnight hours as a warm front lifts across the area."

Then a cold front approaches from the west.

"The primary threat from thunderstorms that develop will be damaging wind gusts … although an isolated tornado is also possible."

After the cold front moves through, skies are expected to clear, but temperatures drop. The high today should near 70 and tonight's low 52. But Wednesday's high will be only 54 and breezy. There could be a freeze Wednesday night with the low possibly dipping into the upper 20s.

The weather Thanksgiving through Saturday is expected to remain clear and warm up a little with highs in the low 60s and lows in the mid 30s.
