Police in Richmond Hill are investigating the cause of death of a 23-year-old who was found dead last week in the parking lot of Steamer’s Restaurant, but two arrest warrants have been issued in relation to the case.
Evans Patrick Fruitticher of Richmond Hill was found Dec. 4 in the restaurant parking lot. An autopsy has been conducted by the Georgia Bureau of Investigations, though the results have not been released.
Authorities also are awaiting the results of toxicology reports.
According to a news release issued Wednesday morning by the Richmond Hill Police Department, arrest warrants were secured Tuesday for Robert Byrd and Thomasina Dawson on charges of possession with intent to distribute schedule II and schedule IV substances.
However, Byrd and Dawson have not been located.
“The victim was an employee of the Steamer’s Restaurant and had worked a shift the night before,” the release stated. “According to the complainant, Robert Byrd, a resident of Travel Lodge and coworker of the victim, he and the victim had a few drinks after getting off work.
“He stated he found the victim the following morning lying in the parking lot next to his vehicle and he called the police.”
Byrd and Dawson have since checked out of their hotel room, according to police. And while they are wanted on drug charges, the release states additional charges could follow should the autopsy and toxicology reports reveal the victim died due to a drug overdose.
The investigation is ongoing, and police ask that anyone with additional information regarding the case or the whereabouts of Byrd and Dawson contact the Richmond Hill Police Department at 756-5645 or Cpl. Jack Frost at 756-0223.
No further information or comments are being released at this time.
