Keep Liberty Beautiful and the Coastal Courier earned first place awards at Keep Georgia Beautiful’s annual banquet and awards ceremony Wednesday at the Emory University Conference Center Hotel in Atlanta.
The local organizations were represented by KLB's Exective Director Sara Swida and Courier managing editor Hollie Moore Barnidge.
Keep Liberty Beautiful was named Georgia’s No. 1 branch affiliate for its overall programming efforts. The Courier won a litter-prevention award for its partnership with KLB in promoting the “Good Neighbors” awareness campaign.
In addition, at the national level, Liberty County 4-H won a first-place Outstanding Youth Organization award; and Keep Liberty Beautiful and the American Red Cross’ Red Club won distinguished service awards, including a $300 cash award, for their 2013 cigarette-litter-prevention project at the gates of Fort Stewart.
Those three winners will pick up those awards at the Keep America Beautiful conference in February in Charlotte, N.C.
