POSTED: December 24, 2013 5:30 p.m.

The Long County High School boys basketball team continued to struggle Wednesday when it lost to Benedictine Military School, 69-54, in Savannah.
The Blue Tide fell behind, 21-13, in the first quarter and never recovered, losing the Region 2B-AA game, 69-54. The leading scorers for Long County were James Francis, who had 8 points, Gage Kasperian, who put up 9 points, and Vanda Vereen Jr., who had 20 points.
“We didn’t handle their physicality well and they out rebounded us,” Long County head coach Deshon Brock said.
Long County Athletic Director Karen Swindell said the Blue Tide had too many unforced turnovers, and their bigger players got into foul trouble. With the loss, Long County falls to 2-4 overall and 1-2 in the region.
On Friday, the Blue Tide and the Lady Tide took on the Toombs County teams at home. Results from those games will be in Wednesday’s Courie
