ATLANTA — Local Kroger customers contributed more than $43,100 in just six weeks to Kroger’s 2013 Can Hunger Campaign to benefit America’s Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia.
From Nov. 17 through Dec. 24, Kroger customers purchased $1, $3 and $5 icons with proceeds benefitting the local food bank. Each icon purchased supported Feeding America food banks and provided local families in need with approximately 3.9 to 19.5 meals.
Kroger’s Atlanta Division, which includes Hinesville, raised more than $642,700 to help food banks across Georgia, eastern Tennessee, Alabama and South Carolina. The donated amount surpassed its $500,000 goal.
“We are extremely grateful to all of our customers and associates who generously contributed to the ‘Can Hunger’ campaign,” said Glynn Jenkins, director of communications and public relations for Kroger’s Atlanta Division. “Every donation goes a long way toward helping our friends and neighbors in the communities we serve.”
