The First Presbyterian Christian Academy boys’ basketball team ended its regular season Friday with a  69-55 win over Trinity Christian in Dublin to stay undefeated in Region 2-AA at 10-0.
Highlander senior Wallace Smith had another standout game, pouring in 32 points to lead FPCA.
“He can get to the basket with ease on most kids who guard him,” FPCA head coach Shane Smith said. “He has a quick first step.”
Not far behind was senior Miguel Pineda, who scored 21 points. These two newcomers have dazzled the FPCA fan base and made an immediate impact this season, meshing well with standouts Ahman Muhammad and Domonique Kirkley.
Pineda hit a double-double by also taking down 10 rebounds. Muhammad scored 10 points.
The FPCA boys finished 18-2 overall and clinched the top spot in the Georgia Independent School Association 2-AA classification, earning a first-round bye in the tournament.
“I’m excited about making the playoffs, really excited for the kids,” Smith said. “We have a really hard working group who has stayed focused, so I’m excited to see if we can make a strong run.”
The final score of the Friday’s girls’ game was not available by press time, but the Lady ’Landers will get a chance to play in the region tournament as well.
