Mardi Gras on Tybee this weekend

Tybee Island, one of Georgia’s barrier islands just 20 minutes east of Savannah, is gearing up for the 6th Annual Mardi Gras Tybee Parade and Mardi Gras Street Party on Thursday-Saturday.  

Pay homage to the traditions of Mardi Gras at events dating back to the ancient Romans. Tybee will be decked-out in purple, gold and green and party-goers will enjoy live entertainment, lavish costumes, fun contests, Cajun cuisine and much more!


6th Annual Mardi Gras Event Schedule:

King Cake Party, 7 p.m. Thursday
CoCo's Sunset Grille, Old U.S. Hwy. 80

Kick off your Mardi Gras weekend at CoCo’s! Enjoy live music from 2ToneFish, Jambalaya, Etouffee, $3 Abita Mardi Gras Bock, $5 Hurricanes and one lucky person who gets the King Cake Baby wins $25 in CoCo Bucks.

N’awlins Costume & Cocktail Party, 7 p.m., Friday

Fannies on the Beach, 1613 Strand Ave

Enjoy hors d’oeuvres, live music by Brad Randall and the Zydeco Ballers, a costume contest and Krew Cup contest.

Mardi Gras Street Party, noon-9 p.m., Saturday

Strand Roundabout (at south end of island on Tybrisa Street and Butler Avenue)

Dig into Ragin Cajun Crawfish Boil & Gumbo, served all day, and listen to live music starting at 1 p.m., including Brad and Randall and the Zydeco Ballers at 3 p.m. and Voodoo Soup at 6 p.m.

Mardi Gras Tybee Parade, 2 p.m. Saturday

Butler Avenue to Tybrisa Street

Grab your chairs (and beads) and find a spot along on the street to watch as Tybee’s Mardi Gras parade, which features colorful floats, plenty of beads and marching bands!
