Tigers fall at Charlton County

POSTED: February 28, 2014 9:23 a.m.

Bradwell Institute’s baseball team suffered a tough loss Tuesday, falling to Charlton County, 12-0, in Folkston.
First-year baseball coach Jeff Polk said the Indians were disciplined at the plate and an overall good ball club. He said the Indians’ pitcher was hittable, but the Tiger batters didn’t execute at the plate like they needed to in order to produce runs.
“They were able to get hits when they needed them,” Polk said. “We struggled at the plate all game.”
The coach said the Tiger defense was solid, but Bradwell struggled a bit on the mound.
“From the pitching standpoint, we gave up more walks than I would like to have, but that is expected early in the year,” the coach said.
Stephen Felton took the loss on the hill.
The Tigers have an intercity rematch at 6 tonight when they host Liberty County. Last week, the Tigers earned a 7-1 win on the Panthers’ home field.
“Liberty is a good ball club, and I will stress that to our team,” Polk said. “I’m sure coach (Tony) Glazer has made adjustments and they will be out for payback this time around. We need to have concentration and intensity from the first pitch to the final out. If we have this, then the rest will take care of itself.”
Polk said that all students with a valid student ID can pay $1 for admission.
