It was a tough loss for the Hinesville Hurricanes football team March 1 in Ocala.
The Hurricanes, saddled with a depleted roster, fell to the Central Florida Bulls, 26-6.
Hinesville, 3-2 on the season going into this weekend, played without defensive captain Jamie Sharp, who is recovering from an injury he received in the second game.
The Hurricanes also had several starters who were unable to make the trip due to military field training.
The ’Canes put up a fight in the first half, answering the Bulls’ first-quarter touchdown with one of their own, knotting the game at 6-6.
The Bulls regained the lead and fielded a strong defensive front that shut down the Hurricanes’ offense for the remainder of the game.
Hinesville head coach James Sharp said it was tough having personnel miss two games due to military training, but the team will rebound and still fight for a playoff spot.
The Hurricanes will host their final home game at
3 p.m. March 22 against the Putnam County Steelers at Long Bell Stadium.
