The Bradwell soccer teams lost its games against Ware County on Friday in Region 3-AAAAA action in Waycross.
The Lady Tigers dropped an 8-1 decision, and the Tigers fell, 5-0.
Jaqueline Mercer scored the Lady Tigers’ lone goal, off an assist from Jasmine Williams.
Lady Tiger coach Scott Akin, who said they had to play without three starters who are nursing injuries, was proud of the way the girls never gave up.
“We lost Alicia McCray to an ankle injury in the first half,” he said. “Alicia is an extremely talented player, and it left a big hole to fill. I was proud of the way that the kids responded in the aftermath.”
Akin, a first-year coach at Bradwell, said that despite a few losses, he is excited about the season and opportunity.
“We are steadily improving and still have most of our season in front of us,” Akin said. “The best advice that I can give my players, and follow myself, is never give up. Never think that any deficit is too big, or any lead too safe.  Play with great heart, passion and effort for 80 minutes. Work each day to improve your skill. Build towards technical perfection.”
Bradwell was scheduled to play Tuesday at Richmond Hill. Results were unavailable at press time.
