A fire broke out late Thursday afternoon in Long County and destroyed a mobile home on Dena Circle that Long County resident Mike Dollins used as his “man cave,” according to Ludowici/Long County Fire Chief Richard Truman.

A call came in around 4 p.m. regarding a reported explosion on Dena Circle. When fire-department units arrived at the address, they found a single-wide mobile home partially engulfed in flames and the storage shed next to it fully engulfed. Truman said firefighters attacked the blaze and brought it under control in about 10 minutes. The fire was fully extinguished in 20 minutes.

Truman said the explosion appeared to have been the result of an oxygen tank exploding from the heat inside the mobile home. No one was hurt, and an arson investigator has been called in to determine the cause of the fire. Dollins, who owned the structures, said the “man cave” was used by his family for parties and get-togethers.
