First Presbyterian Christian Academy swept Memorial Day on Tuesday in soccer action in Garden City.
The Lady ’Landers won, 11-2, and the FPCA boys prevailed, 12-0.
Highlander head coach Tom Sukaratana, who already has coached 31 junior-varsity and varsity games to date, said that despite the busy schedule, he is thrilled about how well his teams are doing.
The FPCA girls’ win Tuesday gave the Lady ’Landers an 8-2 overall mark and a 3-0 Region 2-AA record for the season.
FPCA team captain Brooke Standard had a hat trick with three goals. Mercedes and Madison Buckley each scored two goals, and Auset Gibbs had one goal and two assists. Cecilia Graham, Bethany Lormis and Summer Mehalko each scored one goal each.
In the boys’ game, FPCA played with eight players on the field to match the small roster Memorial Day had.
Sukaratana said that within the first few minutes of the game, he pulled some of his veteran starters out of the game and started playing his bench. He said it was a great opportunity for the reserves to gain game experience.
Senior captain Clark Sukaratana scored four goals and had one assist in the first half before sitting out. Senior Dylan McGarry scored a hat trick to go with six assists. Domonique Kirkley, Ricky Gilliard, CJ Dargan, Brantley McCorkle and Tareak Barnes each had one goal apiece.

Kirkley also had one assist, and Greg Cannata had one assist.
The Highlanders also played Monday at Alleluia, but a miscommunication led to a lack of officials on the field. The non-conference game was started and finished tied, 3-3.
The Highlanders are 8-2-1 overall and 2-1 in the region.
FPCA travels tonight to St. Simons Island to play rival Frederica.
The girls play at 4 p.m., and the boys’ game will follow.
