March 7: • Aggravated cruelty to animals — A distraught grandfather reported that someone had shot his granddaughter’s 15-month old Labrador retriever. The incident took place on John Wells Road.
The man said he came home and found the wounded dog on his front porch. He took to dog to Wolfe Animal Hospital in Jesup, where the dog later died from the wound.

•Possession of marijuana/ possession and use of drug related objects/speeding — A deputy pulled over a woman driving a white Dodge Charger going 76 mph in a 55 zone. The car came to a stop on Highway 196 at Luke Road.
When the woman rolled down her window, the deputy detected an odor of marijuana. With the assistance of another deputy and a drug dog, the officers found a clear plastic bag with marijuana and a pipe in the car. They also found another bag of marijuana in the trunk of the vehicle.

March 8
• Simple battery — A man reported he had an argument with his wife and she threatened to tear up their Turning Point home. The husband said his wife went berserk pouring gasoline on the front porch and threatening to light it on fire. She warned him she was going to tear up his things and when he tried to hold her back, she bit him on the forearm, breaking the skin. The wife then broke some household items and busted out the back-door window before leaving the house in a white Ford Expedition.

• Arrest for active warrant — After stopping a motorcyclist for improper tag display, a deputy ended up arresting the man and taking him to jail.
The man was wanted by the Liberty County Sheriff’s Office.

• Driving while license was suspended — A deputy stopped a woman driving a Nissan truck when he saw the truck didn’t have a tag. The woman said she just bought the truck a few days ago and presented a bill of sale, proof of insurance and her driver’s license to the deputy. When he checked her license, the deputy discovered the woman’s license was under suspension for DUI.
She also had two active warrants. She was arrested and taken to jail.
