Liberty County High School went 0-3 in their final baseball games of the season.
During their sub-region playoffs last week in Augusta the Panthers fell 9-2 and 12-0 to Cross Creek in a best of three series. On Monday the boys played their last game of the year at Savannah Country Day School, falling 2-1.
In the first game against Cross Creek, Curtis Michalowicz and JT Evans both went 1-of-2, scoring one run each.
Panther pitcher Colby Rhea took the loss, pitching 4.2 innings, allowing eight hits and eight runs and four walks. He struck out three batters. Gary Albertson came in as relief, walking one and giving up one run.

The Panthers did manage five hits, but weren’t able to bring in the runs. Cross Creek had 9 hits.
Vincent Brunelli started on the mound for game two, walking one and earning one strikeout. He gave up one run. Michalowicz took the loss. He gave up seven hits, walked nine batters and threw two strikeouts.
In the Savannah Country Day, the Panthers had the game knotted at 1 until the Hornets scored in the third. The defense and pitching for both teams kept the remainder of the game scoreless.

Rhea pitched four innings, tossing six strikeouts and walking two. He gave up four hits and two runs. Michalowicz pitched the final innings, walking three and earning three strikeouts.
It was a difficult season for the Panthers. Liberty will graduate five senior players but will likely return 10 players who were on this season’s varsity roster, which included two freshmen, three sophomores and five juniors.
