MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Donations from customers at Fred’s Super Dollar stores brought in $737,655 for its annual campaign benefitting the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.
Fred’s officials announced Monday the results from the campaign, which ran Feb. 25-April 20.
Fred’s shoppers were offered a chance to purchase special paper Miracle Balloons for $1 each at any store location. All the proceeds from the sale benefitted the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital closest to the Fred’s Super Dollar where the balloon was purchased.
As an incentive, customers who purchased a Miracle Balloon in a Fred’s were rewarded with a coupon for $1 off the purchase of two bags of Mars Candy.
“We are so proud of our customers and the amazing generosity they have shown. It’s truly heartwarming,” Fred’s marketing director Ursula Roman said. “It is gratifying to know that so many children will benefit from this effort. This achievement is a testament to our customers and how much they care about others.”
Since 2006, the first year of the campaign, Fred’s has raised more than $4.9 million.
Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals is a nonprofit organization dedicated to generating funds and awareness for children’s hospitals and their programs. The organization assists 170 children’s hospitals that provide special care to injured and sick children in communities across North America.
