Schools offering career, technology camps

POSTED: May 14, 2014 4:30 p.m.

The Liberty County School System will offer a career and technology camp experience for sixth- and seventh-graders this summer at the Liberty College and Career Academy.
The LCCA and the LCSS Technology Office are combining resources to offer the educational camp, which will be held from 8-11:30 a.m. June 2-5. Parents will need to provide transportation for their students to and from camp.
Students can sign up for one of the following programs: aircraft, animation creation, construction, culinary arts, engineering, graphic designs, iMovie-making magic, manufacturing, medicine, teaching and welding.
Participants will receive a T-shirt, daily snack and to-go bagged lunch if they want it.
Most students also will have a takeaway project to complete as part of their camp experience.
“We are excited to offer our students technology and career pathways to prepare them for 21st-century learning experiences,” said Portia Evans, instructional technology specialist. “Exploring these pathways may open new doors for Liberty County students.” The camp will serve 15 applicants per program area, and registration will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
Interested parents can register students through today at http://bit.ly/lccasummercamp2014.  Applicants that have been selected will be notified.
