Former Bradwell Institute track athlete Quintunya Chapman placed second in the heptathlon in the Southeastern Conference outdoor track championship in Lexington, Ky., last week.
Chapman ran a personal best in the 100-meter hurdle (14.21) and scored another personal best in the long jump (19-feet, 9 inches). She cleared 5-feet, 1.75 inches in the high jump, tossed the shot put 41-feet, 10.5 inches and threw the javelin 102 feet, 1 inch. She ran the 200-meter dash in 24.59 seconds and finished the 800-meter run in 2:15.42.
This is Chapman’s first season competing in multi-events.
According to stats posted on georgiadogs.com, the junior shot to fifth in the school record books, scoring 4,107 points to take 12th in the pentathlon during the indoor season, earning a second team All-America certificate at the NCAA championships.
Also during the indoor season, she finished sixth in the pentathlon, placed fifth in the 400-meter run at the VT Elite Meet and recorded five personal-best efforts en route to a career-best pentathlon score of 4,043 for eighth place at the SEC championships.
According to the NCAA’s track and field website, Chapman has qualified to compete in the heptathlon at the NCAA outdoor championship in Oregon June 11-14.
