CHARLESTON, S.C. — The Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center is relocating its Hinesville VA outpatient clinic to its permanent home at 500 E. Oglethorpe Highway in Hinesville, effective June 2.
A grand-opening ceremony featuring Congressman Jack Kingston, R-Ga., as a guest speaker will be held for the public at 10 a.m. June 13. Afterward, there will be a welcome-home celebration for veterans and their families.
“The new Hinesville VA clinic provides a state-of-the-art permanent home for the delivery of care to our current veterans and to those who are returning from Iraq and Afghanistan in this growing community,” said Scott Isaacks, the interim director of the Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center. “The new outpatient clinic will allow us to expand specialty services and bring primary care and mental-health care closer to our veterans.”
The 23,348-square-foot clinic in Hinesville will provide some 7,200 veterans with primary care, mental health, tele-health and tele-mental health, radiology, women’s health and optometry as well as services relating to Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn and select specialty care.
A temporary Hinesville VA clinic opened in July 2011 to establish services for veterans in the area. The temporary clinic included two primary-care teams. The permanent clinic expands that number to six primary-care teams and adds other specialty medicine and mental-health staff for a total of approximately 65 VA staff members to provide care.
Veterans can schedule or change their appointments through their primary care provider or by calling 843-789-7654.
