Acclaimed blues artist Janiva Magness will hold a free concert from 7-9:30 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, in Bradwell Park.
Magness released her debut album in 1992 and has become a staple of summer festivals. Living Blues Magazine wrote that “Magness’ voice remains incredibly rich and soulful, and her delivery is expert-tattered or raw or robust in all the right places.”
She is a four-time winner of the Blues Music Award for contemporary blues female artist of the year as well as song of the year for “I Won’t Cry,” co-written with Dave Darling, in 2013.
She also has claimed the B.B. King Entertainer of the Year honor, making her only the second female to earn that honor.
“We are excited to bring an artist of such immense talent and magnitude to Liberty County,” Hinesville Area Arts Council Chairwoman Leah Poole said. “We know this will be an enjoyable show, and we hope to have an enthusiastic crowd to welcome her.”
